Satoshi Tomiie
In this clip we talk to Japan’s Satoshi Tomiie at his last party of the season in Ibiza last year - Carl Cox’s Revolution at Space. He talks about his constant traveling and the first time he came to Ibiza - the teeny weeny island, which he’d never heard of. Now he knows and loves the island, does he have a particular place he loves to play and what does he think of Space? Satoshi also tells us about his booth set-up and the input he’s had on developing the CDJ-2000s…Satoshi has a strong musical background, having trained as a pianist for ten years from an early age. This led to a love for jazz and progressed onto hip hop and house later on. A chance meeting with Frankie Knuckles whilst producing music for a Japanese cosmetic company, led to a collaboration, “Tears”, in 1989, and the rest as they say is history. Since then he’s worked with household names such as Simply Red, David Bowie, U2 and Mariah Carey and has his own label, SAW.RECORDINGS, clocking up over 70 releases and 5 albums since its birth in 2000.To see Satoshi live, check out his tour dates below: 25 Jun 2010 Macro Future, Rome, Italy 27 Jun 2010 Water Taxi Beach , New York 26 Jul 2010 Cavo Paradiso, Mykonos, Greece, Kyklades, Greece 31 Jul 2010 Guendalina, Santa Cesarea Terme, Lecce, Italy 2 Aug 2010 Ripping, San Teodoro, Italy 7 Aug 2010 Cocorico, Riccione, Italy 14 Aug 2010 Mania, Sunny Beach, Bulgaria 15 Aug 2010 Cavo Paradiso, Mykonos, Greece, Kyklades, Greece 3 Sep 2010 Vinacure Bogata, Cu, Columbia 4 Sep 2010 Eliptica, Cali, Valle 1 Oct 2010 Vox, Nonantola, Modena, Italy 20 Nov 2010 Womb, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan
