Exporting Democracy - CC #81
The U.S. has invaded two sovereign nations in the Middle East, have replaced their governments with one’s more to our liking, and in Iran have supported those who seek to overturn their current leadership. As part of the U.S. brokered Roadmap to Peace, we have assisted in the selection of a Prime Minister, and in sidelining Yasser Arafat. Are America's efforts to fight terrorism and export democracy the kind of 'get tough' action the Middle East best understands? Are we trying to do too much, too fast? Will our new foreign policy backfire or pay big dividends in the future?
