Pollack Says Social Security Is `Safe' Until 2036
Ethan Pollack, a senior policy analyst at the Economic Policy Institute, and Paul Van de Water, a health-care economist at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, talk about the solvency of Social Security. AARP, a lobbying group for retirees, said today it is willing to support cuts in Social Security over "the long term" to shore up the program’s finances while stressing its opposition to any benefit changes as part of current efforts to slash the federal debt. Pollack and Van de Water speak with Pimm Fox on Bloomberg Television’s "Taking Stock."
