Materials & Process: Photography
Since MAD’s mission is intimately tied to the exploration of the relationship between art and craft, it seems only fitting that we consider for interpretation the work of the many craftspeople that work with the museum, in addition to our many artists. Jonathan Bigelow Taylor is one of the photographers that we use most often to photograph our collection, particularly our jewelry collection, and while his work for us is not fine art per se, it is definitely a serious craft. This video illustrates that point perfectly: what looks like a simple photograph is actually a composite image made from multiple exposures.
