2010年我國石化產值高達台幣1.8兆元，約占我國GDP的12%。經濟部長施顏祥，上午在經濟部工業局所舉辦的「我國石化產業高值化策略規劃會議」中提到，台灣的石化工業擁有市場優勢，是非常好轉型發展的機會。
