Full body scanners at Manchester airport
Scanners being trialled at Manchester Airport are to be made compulsory at all British airports in a crackdown on security following the Christmas day bomb plot. John Greenway, Manchester Airport press office manager says "Very simply what they do is stand in the image technology — people also know it as a body scanner. They stand with their fingers on their temples, the scan takes about seven seconds and then that image is transmitted to a remote operator in another room in another part of the airport."
