Traffickers use homemade marines to smuggle cocaine
Guillermo Barrera, “Hidden in the jungle, in the humidity, they establish their construction bases. They bring building materials in by water from Buenaventura or Tumaco. They also bring chemicals, electric generators and ask the local population to assist them. They hire them as laborers. This type of submersible carries a grade of cocaine popular in America. Since they hit the Pacific Ocean a year ago, 14 of these homemade submarines have been seized.
