Only one flight remains before the space shuttle programme’s 30 year history comes to an end.Paul Sharpe recently retired from working as an engineer at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.Prior to the first shuttle launch in 1981 he worked on the Apollo mission. He even applied the finishing touches to the lunar rover, sticking stars and stripes onto the fenders of the vehicle astronauts drove on the moon.He talks about being part of the US space programme for more than 40 years and what the end of the shuttle era means to him.
