Subarctic Adventure in Churchill, Manitoba
After a two-day train ride from Winnipeg, Robert Reid of Lonely Planet ( and Kim Mance ( arrive in the subarctic "polar bear capital of the world", Churchill Manitoba, which sits on the Hudson Bay. The two travel writers take off on adventure tours to see wild polar bears and beluga whales in their natural habitat. They also get unexpected bonuses like a rocket launcher, souvenir shopping, a visit to Polar Bear jail, and a chat with Parks Canada Bear Patrol.
