Steroid Use in Baseball: Owners (March 17, 2005)
House Oversight Committee - 185904-3-DVD- Steroid Use in Baseball: Owners - House Committee Government Reform and Oversight. Major League Baseball executives testified about charges of steroid use among professional athletes and recent contract negotiations over testing rules in the sport. Among the issues they addressed during sometimes contentious questioning were standards of player conduct in relation to other professional sports, enforcement and penalty guidelines for steroid use, the degree to which potential punishment might deter steroid use, and perceived reluctance by owners and players to confront steroid use. ~In the backup copy, portions of the day-long hearing were edited for length. The video does not include Representative Kanjorski’s questions to the panel, Representative Watson's questions to the panel, an exchange between Representative McHenry and Mr. Manfred and Mr. Selig, as well as exchanges between Representatives Foxx and Shays with panel members.
