Elephants in the Lincoln Park Zoo
In April 2003, Peaches, Wankie, and Tatima?three aging African elephants?were shipped amid controversy from San Diego Wild Animal Park in California to Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago to make space for new, young elephants abducted from the wild in Africa. Tatima (who you see limping), Peaches, and Wankie were all dead by May 1, 2005.
