Public Record 79th Annual Couchiching Conference This year’s theme was "Watershed Moment or Wasted Opportunity." Participants examined the global economic meltdown and how it has changed views on the economy, the role of the state, and public policy.  This August 7th panel, entitled "Bonfire of the Vanities", explored the role of the consumer in the global economy, and featured presentations by Joseph Heath (Professor of Philosophy at the University of Toronto), Jennifer Corriero (Co-founder and Executive Director of TakingITGlobal) and Peter Wintonick (Independent Documentary Filmmaker).
