Heart of Death — Based on my graphic novel LA PETITE MORT, The Heart of Death is a sensual exploration brought to life via CGI animation.  It’s a labor of love and I have always been fascinated by the story of Persephone and Hades and longed to reintroduce it to a modern audience. In my adaptation, Persephone is a headstrong island noblewoman who often visits graveyards and sites of death. It is not for morbid reasons however, as she is actually a lively and bright eyed spirit. Rather, she does this to highlight the beauty and fragility of existence. Death-Thanos spies her one day while going about his rounds and is taken in by her beauty and intellect. Problem is, Death is bound by universal laws which forbid him from consorting with the living, nor can he take Persephone before her allotted time as to do so would upset the balance of nature. Bound by duty, Death-Thanos is torn until he one day devises a plan that may aid him in circumventing the laws to make Persephone his. Thing is, this nightly sexual ritual could very well be the undoing of both gods and men.
