Pearl Report - 明珠檔案 - Off Broadway In HK - 2009-03-15
Off Broadway In HK Broadway Musicals got a big boost in Hong Kong when Mohamed Drissi from France opened the first broadway school for people of all ages, including those without any prior musical training. to learn dancing, singing and acting, as well as life-long skills such as commitment, collaboration and self confidence. To enable the public to understand and appreciate Broadway Musicals, Mohamed also arranged to have some famous pieces translated from English to Chinese. Two such Cantonese Musicals have been performed publicly in the past two years. Be A Storyteller Telling stories used to be the role of a parent or a librarian but it has become a vital skill for students as well as adults. Some HK schools are hiring professional storytellers to run training workshops for their students and teachers. Professional storytellers such as Roger Jenkins has flown to HK in the past few years to train local students and teachers storytelling skills. Storyteller Teresa Norton based in Hong Kong is utilising the skill and running workshops for the business sector. What does storytelling offer to students and how relevant it is for HK schools? And what do business people get from storytelling?
