Sinochem Reportedly Asking for Government Backing of Potash Stake
Sinochem, the Chinese Chemical Conglomerate, has reportedly asked its government to back a takeover bid for Potash Group of Saskatchewan (POT).  Reuters reported that Chinese newspaper The Economic Observer said Sinochem is mulling a bid to rival BHP Billitons (BHP) $130 per-share, $40 billion hostile takeover attempt, but would need the governments help to raise the $40 billion to $60 billion needed to trump BHP.
