After his train runs over two people in two weeks, Paul Callow (Mackenzie Crook) becomes fed up with life.  But when he learns that another fatal accident will award him early retirement and ten years’ salary, Paul hilariously searches for a volunteer. He soon finds Tommy Cassidy (Colm Meaney), who agrees with one condition… that he has two days to make things right with his estranged wife (Imelda Staunton) and daughter (Gemma Arterton).
