20-July-2008: Highlights of the Red Bull Air Race in Rotterdam 2008. British pilot Paul Bonhomme extended his lead in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship on Sunday with a victory in Rotterdam. Austrian ace Hannes Arch failed to finish in a dramatic head-to-head final against Bonhomme for touching an Air Gate but came second overall. Bonhomme put in a fast and clean run in the fourth race of the World Championship with a time of 1:17.25. Arch was competing against Bonhomme for top place but did not finish after clipping the top of an Air Gate and flying off course. Third place went to Brit Steve Jones who made the podium for the first time this season. His time of 1:16.00 narrowly edged out American pilot Kirby Chambliss who clocked 1:16.03 to come fourth. Thousands of spectators lined the harbour side in Rotterdam to watch the 12 pilots fly at speeds of up to 370 km/h and withstand forces of up to 12 Gs. Bonhomme leads the World Championship with 35 points followed by Arch with 29 points and Chambliss with 27 points. More on the race in Rotterdam on
