Der 78-jährige Carl Fredericksen erfüllt sich einen Jugendtraum. Er hängt tausende von Luftballons an sein Haus und fliegt damit nach Südamerika. Das größte Abenteuer auf seiner Reise ist aber der 8-jährige Russel, der ungewollt auf seiner Veranda mitfliegt.
