渠務署署長劉家強解釋，造成大埔碗窰沙埔仔村嚴重水浸的主要原因，是暴雨令大量石頭沖落下游，阻塞大埔河主幹道，與河道擴闊工程無關。 署方已派人為居民登記損失，若有需要，會協助保險索償。
