An US business magazine has rated Thüringen as the best place to invest in Germany, giving the lie to the stereotype of eastern Germany as an impoverished backwater. Companies from all over the world are settling here, for example automotive suppliers. They are drawn by the location, infrastructure, and government subsidies.The magazine “Site Selection” based its decision on the number of new investors and the number of jobs created. By those criteria, Thüringen is not only number one in Germany: it’s the 5th-best region to invest in western Europe.
