GBTV #520 (HD) Apple TV Update Breaks Boxee, Safari 4
The latest Apple TV update (2.3.1) breaks Boxee again. Sales of the Apple TV surged in the last quarter of 2008, and my guess is that Boxee was a factor. Boxee is a killer app for Apple TV and I would love to see Apple open up the platform. If you already have Boxee installed, you can update Apple TV and just use the patchstick to re-install. It’s inconvienient, but not the end of the world. My "Leave Boxee Alone" segment is a parody of Chris Crocker's "Leave Britney Alone" YouTube video. It's a good idea to watch it if you don't get the joke. Safari 4 was released yesterday and it has 150 new features, some of which are almost as innovative as tabs. It's in beta, and worth a download, but like any beta download you should proceed at your own risk. Alex Lindsay is reporting system wide crashes due to Safari 4. Cnet UK did some benchmarking and found that it renders JavaScript 42 times faster than IE7. We have video from Geekologie.com of what might be the new Mac Mini. If it's real, it's unfortunate that neither of the two display ports are HDMI. You can save money on domain name registrations and renewals from GoDaddy.com with discount codes GB1, GB2 and GB3.
