Women in Computing - Gala Banquet Keynote
Anita Jones gives a keynote to remember. She describes snippets of her four years in the Pentagon as part of an extraordinary defense team. She was the DDR&E (director of defense research and engineering) - an acronym she seems proud of. She came away from her experience with a greater respect of the US military than when she entered. Jones explains some of her objectives along with entertaining examples of life as a political appointee. After surviving the four years and returning to academia with her reputation intact, she suggests that we all should consider doing a stint in the military. She closes by saying "life is too short, cross the non-traditional bridge. If you shoot for the moon and fail, you simply fall among the stars. And that’s a wonderful place to be."
