Welcome to the West Take My Leave (Performed by Kurt Loewen, Dana Tower, Brian Maude, Colin Daly, Cameron Wallace, Paul Wolda, Suzanne Stirling and Andrew Bishop) Because Victoria’s Buena Buya only cracks its musical knuckles in Calgary once or twice in a year – we felt it would be nice to barricade a busy metro alleyway before their performance at the Marquee Room. Security guards, restaurant owners, business people, the homeless, friends and concert goers almost seemed to form like the nomadic band they watched.  The Buya will be traveling to Mexico with a new album in the New Year, busking, hustling and bustling off the land. Singer, Kurt Loewen talks about the writing of their new song, Take My Leave: “Though the song is only a couple of weeks old in the band, I wrote the lyrics to that tune last May when I was in the beautiful town of Winlaw, British Columbia. Feeling good about the four months of touring ahead, but anxious about the relationship I was in at the time. Over-analyzing everything, and not being present.
