Global 3000 Cambodia: New Drugs Flood Asia
Southeast Asia has been battling drugs for decades. The Golden Triangle between Thailand,Burma and Laos long flooded the world markets with huge amounts of opium. The trade in opium is now gradually declining, but new drugs have moved into the region instead: amphetamines,or speed, produced in small makeshift laboratories in tiny villages in the back country. Most of the consumers are Asian,as well. Changes in society and an increased pressure to succeed are two of the reasons why the use of synthetic drugs is on the rise.
