Britain’s economy surged in the second quarter of 2010, with gross domestic product expanding by 1.1 per cent, its fastest pace of growth in four years, according to official statistics released on Friday. Chris Giles, economics editor, talks to Daniel Garrahan about how the growth beat the consensus forecast and why it is good news, and bad news, for fiscal policy.
