Campaign Finance
Candidates for national office increasingly spend their time raising money versus courting voters. While laws exist to curb contributions, influential donors are spending millions more dollars in each successive presidential campaign. Congressional and gubernatorial races also escalate in costs as candidates are increasingly pressured to skirt limits by using soft money. Is campaign finance reform possible in such a political climate? Will better disclosure or new limits really create effective controls? From the Series:Capitol Region Roundtable
