Founder of Khudi Foundation, Maajid Nawaz, probes the need for counter-narratives, recounting the personal challenges he had to undergo as a young man to go from extremism to enlightenment. About the speaker In 2009, Maajid teamed up with a number of young Pakistanis to start a counter-extremism social movement by the name of Khudi Foundation working to promote a democratic culture in Pakistan. Maajid Nawaz is the British Pakistani former member of the Islamic political group Hizb ut-Tahrir. He holds a BA (Hons) from London University’s School of Oriental and African Studies and a M.Sc. in Political Theory from the London School of Economics. He is co-founder and co-director of Quilliam (think tank), the world's first counter-extremism think tank.
