《IFPI香港唱片銷量大獎2008》是為了鼓勵及嘉許歌手過去一年的努力而舉行的頒獎典禮。當中獎項是在同業認同下，由統一核數師作銷量核實，為業界歌手們提供了成果的認同，並作為努力的目標。 大會將邀請極具份量的嘉賓出席這次頒獎典禮，呼籲樂壇每一份子同心協力，發動香港音樂力量，再創香港唱片業輝煌年代。今晚頒發的獎非常豐富，其中包括﹕最暢銷本地新人組合、最暢銷本地女新人、最暢銷本地男新人、十大銷量本地歌手、全年最高銷量本地女歌手、全年最高銷量本地男歌手、最高銷量國語唱片及最高銷量廣東唱片等等。
