Elephant Task Force faces opposition
Faced with dwindling number of elephants and rising incidents of its conflict with humans, the Elephant Task Force has recently recommended to the Ministry of Environment & Forests changes in existing wildlife rules including a ban on using elephants in religious processions. Though conservationists have welcomed the move, it’s facing fierce opposition from elephant owners.
