Everquest 2 and a half?
World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online, Lineage II, ahhh! I can’t keep up with all these MMORPGs, and for good reason. Massively multiplayer online role-playing games (or MMORPGs) are over a billion dollar gaming market each year worldwide. Just ask anyone that's ever played one. The games themselves are beyond fun, and extremely addicting. The one significant MMORPG I left off the list was Everquest, since that's what we're talking about today. Get excited, because Sony Online Entertainment has announced expansion packs for BOTH Everquest and it's successor Everquest II. We've got Everquest: Seeds of Destruction and Everquest: The Shadow Odyssey. That's right, these games are so addicting and fun that there's STILL a significant crowd playing the original game. Of course we can't talk about Everquest without thinking about its more popular nickname, EverCrack. But me, I like to put the emphasis on the original name: Everquest. You're questing - for--ever. Both expansions include tons of brand new zones, new level caps, and new realms to keep you stuck to your computer screens. And another sign of this series' incredible success was seen at the expansions announcement at the Sony Fan Faire event where EVERY single attendant got a free copy. Just cuz. Everquest's success is what paved the road for many more MMORPGs to be released in recent history. So far World of Warcraft stands above the rest as the single most popular MMORPG, with over 10 million monthly subscribers. I used to be one of them. Needless to say, it was rough quitting the game. Real rough.
