Jadakiss - Kiss of Death Tour 2005
Embarking on a his own solo career in 2001, Jadakiss has remained a member of two influential East Coast rap collectives and production teams, The Ruff Ryders and The Lox. As a the stand-out member of New York-based trio The Lox, Jadakiss wrote and sang on hits by their mentor Puff Daddy as well as others by Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey and The Notorious B.I.G. Their 1997 tribute to the last-named, 'We’ll Always Love Big Poppa' gave them their first and biggest hit, becoming a multi-platinum selling single. More hit singles followed in its wake and their two albums both made top five in Billboard's national chart. Jadakiss' solo debut album 'Kiss The Game Goodbye' peaked at number 5 in the album charts in 2001, his second, 'Kiss Of Death' making the top spot in 2004. Despite his tough and uncompromising social and political songs, often with inspired lyrics dealing with everyday life on the mean streets - guns, drug-dealing and robbery and suchlike - they have nevertheless crossed over into the pop mainstream. Considered by many to be at his best in a live setting rather than in the cofines of a studio, Jadakiss is very much in his element in this spectacular set filmed in London in 2005. In it he features highlights and hits from his recent solo work as well as his earlier recordings made with The Lox. Includes the hits, 'Time's Up', 'Knock Yourself Out', 'U Make Me Wanna', 'We Gonna Make It' (his instant underground classic about street mayhem), 'Put Ya Hands Up' and 'Why'. The last-named number caused a furore over its linking George Bush with a 9/11 conspiracy theory and was banned by US several radio stations.
