全國人大常委范徐麗泰表示，現階段不會支持或反對任何人參選下屆特首，認為現時未有人會參加，而且距離選舉還有一段時間。 對於七一遊行時，民主黨成為狙擊對象，范徐麗泰認為民主黨的處理手法在她心目中加分，因為當被市民責罵時，民主黨只解釋事情及表示會尊重不同意見。 對於民主黨表示會公開與中央談判，會否影響日後與中央溝通，范徐麗泰表示不知道。
