Los Angeles (from Spanish Los Aacute;ngeles), or simply LA is a city in the U.S. state of California. It lies on the Pacific Ocean and the Los Angeles River.  Los Angeles is just over 4 million inhabitants (2008) in the city after New York#39;s second largest city in the United States. With 11.8 million inhabitants in the metropolitan area, nearly 13 million people in the metropolitan area (Metropolitan Statistical Area) and 17.8 million in the wider metropolitan area includes the Greater Los Angeles Area of the largest metropolitan areas in the world. The people of Los Angeles called Angelenos. Los Angeles is the capital and administrative center of the Los Angeles County. The city is the economic, business and culture of California with many universities, colleges, research institutes, theaters and museums. Los Angeles is the world#39;s largest site for the aviation and aerospace industry and known for the resident film and television industry (Hollywood) and music scene.
