Studio Guest: Marie-Christine Ostermann, Germany’s Association of Young Business People
DW-TV: Alright we’ve got lots to talk about and to do that I'm joined by Marie-Christine Ostermann. She is with the Association of Young Entrepreneurs here in Germany and is a business owner herself. Thank you for joining us. What's your opinion; is the global market morally bankrupt now? Marie-Christine Ostermann: Yes, I think this is right the global market is quite bankrupt because there is so much debt in every European country right now and that will rise, and rise and rise again and there's no limit to this. DW-TV: Do you think there's a lack of ethics right now in the business world? Marie-Christine Ostermann: Well, I think some countries and some politicians don't want to take responsibility for their own decisions and for all this debt so they want to be rescued by other countries and this is why we have this big rescue package now. DW-TV: Are you against the rescue package in the Eurozone? Marie-Christine Ostermann: Yes, I'm against the rescue package because we family entrepreneurs take responsibility for our own decisions and it is very important to discipline people so they don't take so many risks in future. DW-TV: But don't you think that a lot of business people, particularly here in Germany, think that if they run into tough times, if they're on the verge of bankruptcy, all they have to do is ask Berlin, is ask the government for help and they're going to get money? Marie-Christine Ostermann: Yes, that's what they are doing right now. And that is what we are doing. We are standing up for this debt and being responsible for it. It's a very big problem. Not the solution for the problem. DW-TV: You say you don't want this bailout package right now but you know credit is tight right now, especially here in Europe. Banks don't want to give it out right now. What does it mean for you as a business person when you can't get your money on loans and credit.
